Acclaimed as the "pre-eminent historian of ideas of his generation," Professor LaCapra has built his extraordinary reputation on a vast body of intellectual thought which transcends many national and disciplinary boundaries. Considered a brilliant lecturer, Dr. LaCapra is a recipient of Cornell's Distinguished Teaching Award. He is the author of such diverse works as A Preface to Sartre, "Madame Bovary" on Trial, Rethinking Intellectual History, and The Bounds of Race: Perspectives on Hegemony and Resistance.
