Re: Question

Bert,

    I think most people would agree that being told to subscribe to
yet another mailing list is an inferior proposal even in comparison
with simply cross-posting. Just for example, if I were to use your
proposal, I would be obliged to post the message -

===================================================================
    Hey CCAMP people! There's a discussion of "MIBs for GMPLS"
going on on the MPLS mailing list. If this topic is of interest to
you and you are not already subscribed to the MPLS mailing list,
then you should subscribe to the MPLS mailing list now.
===================================================================

- because this is exactly what is happening.

    What I would suggest is that - if indeed the mailing lists have
so many subscribers in common (an assertion you, and some others,
have made but nobody can prove) - then collapse the mailing lists.
Since it is not POSSIBLE for an individual to ascertain on their own
what overlap - if any - exists between the CCAMP and MPLS mailing
lists, then no one has any business climbing down anyone else's
throat because they decide to cross-post rather than send separate
messages on multiple lists.
