Well, yes, James has shown a major flaw in his management, although not the 
one Dan cites.  James and Marc have allowed far, far too much distraction 
and protraction, such as tolerating the sort of silliness that Dan is raising.

The real consensus was developed long ago.  However James and Marc desired 
to provide extra time to seek consensus with those unhappy at the dominant 
view.  Alas, all that has ensued from that kind effort has been to give 
this vocal minority more of a sense of credibility than they warrant.

Dan has, as usual, asserted actions as personal when they were in fact 
subject to broad review, assistance, and agreement.  Dan does not want to 
acknowledge this clear fact, of course.

(And, by the way, variable consensus-assessment procedures are standard 
fare for the IETF.  They work well.  It's even in the formal rules, though 
Dan's selective citation effort managed to miss this point.)
