and apel/emu seem to be

which contradicts wanderlust/INSTALL

for flim, i find

    http://www.kanji.zinbun.kyoto-u.ac.jp/~tomo/lemi/dist/flim/flim-1.14/

for semi, the wl INSTALL says ftp://ftp.m17n.org/pub/mule/semi/ but i
can not reach it.

i am on macos, and have to hack each one of these to install in the
insane 'we know better' macos file structure.  e.g.

    /usr/local/src/mail/apel/APEL-CFG
    ;; You can specify APEL_DIR and EMU_DIR directly.  Uncomment and edit this.
    (setq APEL_DIR "/Applications/Emacs.app/Contents/Resources/site-lisp/apel")
    (setq EMU_DIR  "/Applications/Emacs.app/Contents/Resources/site-lisp/emu")

so it would be nice if i understood how to minimize the mess and hassle
