actually, i ssh tunnel to a remote server which specifically runs on
ports 80 and 442 and then tunnel my smtp over that. hence i do not have
to change configs when i move around, it is encrypted in transport, and
it works from networks with port blockage.
The first option I considered was using a proxy server, but I didn't want to deliberately circumvent my employer's network policies. One of mail accounts, Fastmail.fm, actually has proxies set up already that let you use whatever port you want.
