I double checked, and of course you are right. The typo was the "@".

I started configuring wl for the folders. It was a learning process, 
but I finally can open the two folders for two POP accounts without 
error. And I can send mail from mutt to them and they shows up in the 
the two folders. Because a client can be created for the two accounts, 
I must assume this means the passwords are valid. They are not the same. 

I tried to change the mail server to mail.histomat.net in .wl and sent 
a message from mutt to brownh@historicalMaterialism.info. Now the error is this: 

 (smtp-response-error 550 "5.7.1 <unknown[108.196.77.165]>: 
 Client host rejected: 
 Authentication failed, please enable SMTP Authentication in your email client")

Do I need \clear?
