Re: Subject Lines on Tickets (Part I)
Hi Harald:
At 09:36 PM 6/4/2003 +0200, you wrote:
seems ok with me, with the caveat that because of the concern Ned raised
(folded subject lines), we should drop the word "requested" from the
subject line......
...and Ted brought up the issue of Last Calls for multiple documents.
O.K. Here is the third draft of proposed subject lines...(so far :-) Please
note that I have added one more subject line to this list to handle
situations where documents are approved between telechats.
(1) Request to Publish: <insert file name of ID>
Please use this subject line when requesting that an ID be published as an
RFC. Since requests to publish are normally sent by WG Chairs or
individuals, I have sent a message to the WG Chairs suggesting that they
use this subject line when making such requests. Please encourage them to
do so.
(2) Last Call: <insert file name of ID>
Please use this subject line when requesting a Last Call for an ID. If
multiple documents are included in the Last Call, then please use the
filename of one of them, and explain in the body of the message that you
are requesting a single Last Call for multiple documents.
(3) Re: Write-up: <insert file name of ID>
When the Secretariat sends a template for a document in Last Call, the
message will have the subject line:
Write-up: <insert file name of ID>
If multiple documents are included in the Last Call, then the Secretariat
will use the filename that was used when the Last Call was
requested. Please use the "reply to" feature when returning your write-up
for inclusion in the ballot for a document in Last Call. The subject line
for your message will then be:
Re: Write-up: <insert file name of ID>
(4) Re: Evaluation: <insert file name of ID>
When the Secretariat sends a ballot for a document in Last Call, the
message will have the subject line:
Evaluation: <insert file name of ID>
If multiple documents are included in the Last Call, then the Secretariat
will use the filename that was used when the Last Call was
requested. Please use the "reply to" feature when submitting your ballot
position and/or comments on a document in Last Call. The subject line for
your message will then be:
Re: Evaluation: <insert file name of ID>
(5) Approved: <insert file name of ID>
Please use this subject line when notifying the Secretariat that a document
has been approved for publication between telechats. If multiple documents
are included in the approval, then please use the filename that you used
when you issued the Last Call.
(6) Query: <insert topic>
Please use this subject line when requesting information about something
that the Secretariat knows something about (like "what happened to my
request for X?"). Please use an abbreviated "topic" in the subject line (to
avoid truncating the text) and provide details in the body of the message.
(7) Verify: <insert topic>
Please use this subject line to confirm that the Secretariat has taken an
action. Please use an abbreviated "topic" in the subject line (to avoid
truncating the text) and provide details in the body of the message. If the
Secretariat has neglected to take an action that it should have taken, then
this message will serve as a reminder to either take the action or explain
to the AD why the action has not been taken.
of course, anything that doesn't follow the convention (either because
it's been forgotten or because it doesn't fit the categories) will still
be handled, but just take a little more time (and may cause more questions).
That goes without saying :-)
Regards,
Barbara
