Re: Last Call: 'XMPP Instant Messaging' to Proposed Standard

Hi Avshalom,
The XMPP working group does have a document explaining
how it relates to cpim: draft-ietf-xmpp-cpim-02.txt. Since the
IESG has not completed processing of the IMPP drafts specifying
of CPIM, this document was not sent at the same time as the core
and im.
I hope this answers your concern, and I appreciate your
taking the time to review the document. Please let me know if
you have further concerns,
			best regards,
				Ted Hardie

I think that XMPP has to adhere to the CPIM standards the same way SIP does.
I could not find any reference to CPIM in this draft.
Creating two separate presence and IM systems is not something that the IETF has to encourage.

Last Call: 'XMPP Instant Messaging' to Proposed Standard

The IESG has received a request from the Extensible Messaging and Presence
Protocol WG to consider the following document:

- 'XMPP Instant Messaging '
  <draft-ietf-xmpp-im-17.txt> as a Proposed Standard

The IESG plans to make a decision in the next few weeks, and solicits
final comments on this action. Please send any comments to the
iesg@ietf.org or ietf@ietf.org mailing lists by 2003-10-08.
