DNA BOF
This BOF was considerably better focussed than the previous one. Before we
got into the subject of "triggers", the BOF seemed on solid ground: the
DNAv6 framework seemed to be relatively well thought through, the presenters
seemed enthusiastic and there seems to be little disagreement that work on
optimistic DAD is worthwhile.
The discussion floundered on the topic of triggers, with one group making
the point that this was *a* place where the topic was being discussed, and
therefore it should be *the* place, regardless of relevance to the topic.
The problem of course is that cataloging link layer parameters isn't
terribly useful in the
My suggestion is that work on triggers be severely restricted as part of
this charter. This largely peripheral topic has consumed so much of the
mailing list bandwidth, and the drafts on the subject seem so peripherally
connected to the core subject, that allowing any drafts on the subject in
the charter (as opposed to an appendix in the DNAv6 draft, for example)
seems inadvisable.
Overall, this is a WG that probably needs extreme focus: move optimistic
DAD to IPv6 WG if they'll take it, leave DNAv4 in DHC, charter DNA WG with
DADv6 only and no separate triggers drafts, and give them 6 months to show
good progress and 12 months to complete the draft.
