In fact, I am much more of an optimist than you. Because I believe
that inherent limitations such as the length of domain names or
the set of characters mail gateways can handle will inevitably be
fixed to meet the demand. Also you seem to have discovered that Unicode
itself was not optimally ordered, right? And some of the discussions
in this wg indicate that Unicode's handling of CJK may be flawed as well.
I would prefer to take the long view and work to get those problems
corrected, even if it means wearing other hats and going to other
organizations to do these things.

Basically, this wg has gone way too far in the direction of trying to fix
things that should be fixed elsewhere.
