1M entry with 100M lookup per second may be possible someday, if the
1M entry memory and core logic of routers be put into a single chip.

However, the statement is politically distorted.

The reality is that, if we don't solve multihoming issue, 1M is small.

Moverover, 100M lookups/second is slow for terabit networking.

If we use multiple chips, we must accept that inter-chip communication
has large overhead, which means it is slow and costs a lot.

High performance routing is still possible with parallelism, which
means a lot of wiring and, thus, a lot more cost.
