Noel, you are certainly right that IPv4 and IPv6 are architecturally the same. But that doesn't necessarily mean that RRG's IPv4 and IPv6 solutions will be the same also. Since many details in IPv4 and IPv6 are different, so are the sets of "tools" you have available for designing IPv4 vs. IPv6 solutions. This may make separate solutions for both IP versions preferable. The above is part of the reasoning why, in previous emails, I suggested that RRG should allow for separate IPv4/IPv6 solutions.
There needs to be a very compelling reason to make the solutions different for v4 versus v6. We would be doing a disservice to the community to purposely make them different.
In fact, let me make a stronger statement. If they are different, that could be another barrier to getting IPv6 deployed.
