No, this was the old notation of backqoutes:
(,@ ssl-program-arguments) [old]
,@ssl-program-aruments [new]
So you have to remove the parentheses, too. Just take a look at the
function I've pasted. And it's not just the "(@,", but also the
backtick ( "(` (" vs. "´(" ).
The *Messages* buffer tells us, that there are still old style
backquotes:

If the old style was replaced wrongly, this may account for the first
problem.

Well.. But you are using a development release of Emacs 24, aren't you ;)
Due to its slow development cycle WL's cvs HEAD is pretty stable. Of
course sometimes HEAD is in a unstable state but simply not pulling
every new changeset would reduce the risk of breaking your setup.
I would say: If you pull today, you have a pretty stable revision of
WL.
