Christopher Gaze is best known as Artistic Director of Vancouver's Bard on the Beach Shakespeare Festival, which he founded in 1990. Now planning its 18th Season, the Festival has seen its attendance grow from 6,000 in the first season to over 80,000 in 2006, cementing the foundations of a uniquely exceptional Shakespeare Festival for Western Canada. In 2002 Christopher was inducted into the BC Entertainment Hall of Fame and in May 2005 he was honoured by the Governor General with Canada's Meritorious Service Medal. This past fall Simon Fraser University conferred him with an honorary doctorate.
