Ideas of North
Dr. Grace's teaching and research interests lie in the areas of 20th century Canadian Literature and Culture, Biography and Autobiography, Comparative Canadian/American Literature, and Interdisciplinary Studies in the 20th Century Literature, Art, Film, Theatre, and Music. Her works include studies of Margaret Atwood, Literary Expressionism, the 2 volume scholarly edition of Malcolm Lowry's letters: Sursum Corda! The Collected Letters of Malcolm Lowry (1995, 1996), and a co-edited collection of Canadian plays called Staging the North. Her new book, Canada and the Idea of North, will be published in 2002. In 1991 she won the Killam Research Prize at UBC and in 1998 she was awarded the Jacob Biely Prize. In 1991 she was elected a Fellow of the Royal Society of Canada. Dr. Grace's lecture to The Institute is co-sponsored by UBC's Program in Canadian Studies.
