The Nation As Its Others: Protestants and Women in the Age of Louis XIV
Professor Stanton currently holds a special distinguished Chair at the University of Michigan, in French, Comparative Literature, and Women's Studies. She has authored or edited 7 books, including The Female Autograph (1987), a collection of essays that established her in the forefront of theorists working on gender and life-writing, Discourses of Sexuality: From Aristotle to AIDS (1994), and Feminisms in the Academy: Rethinking the Disciplines (1995). Her latest single-authored work, Women Writ, Women Writing, Gendered Discourse and Difference in 17th Century France, brings together her expertise as a specialist in 17th and 18th century French Studies, and her familiarity with feminist theory. Domna Stanton is, in fact, one of the few academics to successfully bridge the gap between European and North American scholarship in the area of Gender Studies.
