Globalization and Well-being
Considered Canada's foremost empirical economist, Professor Helliwell was born in Vancouver and received his education at UBC and Oxford, where he was a Rhodes Scholar. Dr. Helliwell has served as a research consultant to the Bank of Canada, several Royal Commissions, the National Bureau of Economic Research in Washington, D.C., the OECD, and the Canadian Department of Finance. A Fellow of the Royal Society of Canada, he has most recently served as Mackenzie King Professor of Canadian Studies at Harvard University and Christensen Visiting Fellow, St. Catherines' College, Oxford. His latest book, Globalization and Well-Being, published by UBC Press and winner of the 2002/03 Donner Prize, is based on three Brenda and David McLean Lectures given at Green College at UBC.
