Professor Brian Rose Lecture

will be addressing the Vancouver Institute on January 31, 2004 at 8:15 p.m., Lecture Hall No. 2 in the Woodward Instructional Resources Centre, University of British Columbia.

The Greeks in Afghanistan and Persia

Professor Rose is First Vice President of the Archaeological Institute of America and Director of the American excavations at the site of ancient Troy in modern day Turkey. His work has been featured by the BBC, New York Times, Archaeology magazine and other major media. Professor Rose specializes in the relationship of Greek and Roman culture to the civilizations of the Middle East. His talk to the Institute will focus on the most distant interface; when after the conquests of Alexander the Great, a Greek kingdom was established in what is now Afghanistan.
