Yes, it is reasonable that when sending a html message the plain text
version of the message is shipped, too, for recipients who prefer or
depend on a plain text representation.

Updated the code: Now it creates a multipart/alternative with the
original plain text followed by the html markup.

Some short word on Org: Org is only used to convert the text file to
html and in itself pure plain text.  As a side effect of using Org's
converter you can use Org mode text markup and editing features:
Headlines, lists and easy editing of ASCII tables.
