CAN WE DO BETTER IN THE 21ST?
Born in Helsinki, Professor Holsti received his BA, MA and Ph.D. at Stanford University. He received the Killam Research Prize in 1994 and was made Killam Professor at UBC in 1997. Former president of the International and Canadian Political Science Associations, his most recent book is entitled The State, War, and the State of War, published by Cambridge University Press. Professor Holsti's principal research interests lie in the areas of underdevelopment, international relations and strategic theory.
