One of the leading experts on the art and culture of early Greece, Professor Hurwit received his doctorate in Classical Art and Archeology from Yale University. He is a member of the editorial boards of Art Bulletin and Classical Antiquity and has been a member of the managing committee of the American School of Classical Studies in Athens for over a decade. Most recently, he has served as the Martha S. Joukowsky Lecturer of the Archaeological Institute of America and the Albert H. Clayburgh Memorial Lecturer, Princeton Society of the Archaeological Institute of America.
