Managing Resources in the Global Commons

Described as a truly "global scholar," Dr. Ostrom has devoted much of her recent research work to the study of the complex institutional arrangements which guide the use of common-pool resources such as large marine ecosystems, groundwater basins, the atmosphere, fresh water and grasslands. She brings a multidisciplinary perspective to the study of a class of resources which are critical to the achievement of global sustainable development. He recent honours include election to the National Academy of Science and American Association for the Advancement of Science.
