The Crisis in Infectious Diseases

Former Vice-Chairman of the Department of Medicine at the University of San Francisco School of Medicine and Chief of Medical Services at San Francisco General Hospital, Dr. Sande has played a leading role in the study of antibiotic-resistant infections and the emergence of "superbugs" as a threat to clinical practice and public health. A frequent public speaker on medical issues, Dr. Sande won the American Medical Writer's Award in 1995 and has appeared on the CBS program, 60 Minutes. He has authored or co-authored over 200 papers, 74 chapters and reviews, contributed nine journal editorials (several to the New England Journal of Medicine) and edited 18 textbooks.
