An Evening With Guy Vanderhaeghe
A native of Saskatchewan, Mr. Vanderhaeghe is considered one of Canada's preeminent authors. His first book, Man Descending (1982), won the Governor General's Award and subsequently the Faber Prize in Britain. His first novel, My Present Age (1984), earned a Booker Prize nomination, and a subsequent work, Homesick (1989), won the City of Toronto Book Award. Mr. Vanderhaeghe has also published several collections of short fiction, including The Trouble with Heroes and Other Stories (1983) and Things as They Are? (1992). His most recent work, The Englishman's Boy, has won wide acclaim. Mr. Vanderhaege's address to The Institute is co-sponsored by UBC's Program in Canadian Studies.
