Performing Art: Images As Cultural Interventions

An extraordinary interdisciplinary scholar of international stature, Professor Bal currently holds three positions: Chair of Theory of Literature at the University of Amsterdam, Founding Director of the Amsterdam School for Cultural Analysis, and Adjunct Visiting Professor of Visual and Cultural Studies at the University of Rochester, New York. Her work covers a broad spectrum of advanced theoretical research, encompassing narrative theory and semiotics, the Old Testament, and visual art and cultural analysis. Her books have been translated into many languages, including German, Spanish, and Chinese. Dr. Bal's lecture style has been described as "electrifying."
