Writing "The Lizard Cage"
Karen Connelly was born in Calgary, Alberta. She is the author of eight books, the most recent being a novel of Burma called The Lizard Cage. Her best-known book, Touch The Dragon: A Thai Journal, won the Governor General's Award for Non-Fiction in 1993, and was also a New York Times Notable Travel Book of the Year in 2002. Her other books include The Small Words in My Body (winner of the Pat Lowther award in 1991), One Room in a Castle, The Disorder of Love, This Brighter Prison, and a new edition of her early poetry, Grace and Poison.
