Information in War & Emergencies: Who Really Commands the High Ground?

Mr. Gowing is main presenter for The World Today, the BBC's premier weekday news and analysis programme. He has had extensive reporting experience over two decades in diplomacy, defence, and international security. He was a lead presenter for BBC World's round-the-clock coverage of the Kosovo crisis in 1999. Nik Gowing also has a distinguished career as a foreign affairs analyst, especially on the role of information in crisis management. In 1994 he was a resident fellow at Harvard University. This lecture is co-sponsored by UBC's Sing Tao School of Journalism and the British Consulate General in Vancouver under the NEWaccents program, Britain and Canada: a dynamic partnership for the 21st Century.
